Abstract

Although Construction Sector stands out as one of the most important and influential economic sectors in Brazil, the recycling of construction and demolition waste (CDW) is still in the process of consolidation. Some regions of the country still do not have recycling plants, and this lack of infrastructure compromises the correct disposal of waste. Therefore, it is necessary to know better the characteristics and needs of this sector to promote its expansion and consolidation. The article analyzes the current and evolutionary overview between demand and consumption of natural and recycled aggregate , based on the results obtained in a sectoral survey of the Brazilian Association for the CDW Recycling (ABRECON) between 2017 and 2018. This survey was made with the support of questionnaires available online, and considered and analyzed data from 96 Brazilian recycling plants. The data analyzed (production demands, growth trends and material quality, among others.)were crossed with results from other producer associations and sources such as IBGE. The results indicate an expectation / need for market growth, as well as a need for technological improvement of the final product selection and quality control processes.
