Carbonatação de escórias de aciaria para captura de CO2: uma revisão do processo e aplicações na construção

O artigo explora o uso de escórias de aciaria na captura de CO2 através da carbonatação, uma abordagem sustentável para gerenciamento de resíduos industriais e redução das emissões de gases de efeito estufa. A carbonatação das escórias envolve reações químicas entre seus óxidos e o CO2, formando carbonatos estáveis, como o carbonato de cálcio, que melhora suas propriedades. O estudo analisa os fatores que influenciam o processo de carbonatação, como temperatura, pressão, tempo de reação e tamanho das partículas, e como essas variáveis afetam a eficiência do sequestro de carbono. A escória carbonatada pode ser utilizada como substituto do cimento Portland e/ou agregados convencionais, melhorando a resistência, durabilidade e segurança ambiental das matrizes cimentícias. O artigo destaca o potencial das escórias como solução sustentável na indústria da construção, contribuindo para a redução da pegada de carbono e a promoção de materiais mais ecológicos.
