VALORIZAÇÃO DO SARGASSUM NA CONSTRUÇÃO CIVIL

Abstract

With the increase in the Sargassum Sea in the Atlantic Ocean, displacements of large masses of algae have been frequent, causing strandings on the coasts of the Gulf of Mexico, the Caribbean, Africa and Brazil, causing serious environmental problems and reducing them. One way to mitigate these impacts is to study alternatives for the valorization of Sargassum that reaches the coast. Thus, the objective of this article is the valorization of Sargassum in construction materials considering that this macroalgae has some potential applications, such as reinforcement fibers in composites and ash, obtained from burning for energy generation, as mineral addition in cementitious composites.
