Abstract

Even though the construction industry has developed its management tools and methodologies for the production and quality control of works there are still defect in quality management, mainly concerning control of processes and products. The implementation of a set of practices known as Lean Six Sigma (LSS) can improved process efficiency by reducing waste. The objective of this research is to propose an evaluation structure of possible application of the LSS through a structured questionnaire following the formatting of the DMAIC cycle (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control). The questionnaire was answered by professionals responsible for construction or quality management in two construction companies. The results infer that the companies contacted have mastered the phase of defining activities, customers, and requisitions, but there is a possible implementation of actions and tools that are applied for the development of processes and products. Thus, the research contributes to listing the main bottlenecks in the management models applied by LSS.
