Abstract

The properties of the adhesive mortar depend on the mineralogical and chemical composition of the materials that constitute it. The performance of each of its properties is basically associated with the materials, the Polymer/cement ratio and the water/cement ratio. The properties of the adhesive mortar are of high importance to provide durability and functionality of the ceramic tiles, since it’s the main layer responsible for the adhesion of the ceramic tiles in the substrate. The present work theoretically discusses the classification and characterization of adhesive mortars and the influence on their deformation capacity. After the theoretical study, seven traces of adhesive mortar with varying Polymer/mortar ratio and cement/mortar ratio were developed to verify the influence of these relationships on the properties of adhesion to direct traction and transverse deformation. With the results of the tests it was found that the ratio of cement/mortar and PVAc/mortar ratio influence the deformation capacity (flexibility) of the adhesive mortar.
