Abstract

Large spans structures with metal finishing, rain noise can be amplified, resulting in damage to the use of the building. This work aims to determine the acoustic performance of rain impact noise in roofing systems with metallic finishing, with 12 different compositions. The tests were performed out in the laboratory according to the parameters of ISO 10140: parts 1, 3 and 5, with artificial rainfall excitation. The A-weighted sound intensity level results of the samples with single layer ranged from LiA 67.2dB to 74.2dB. It can be concluded that the installation of an intermediate layer with fibrous material reduces rain noise by up to 22dB.
