Abstract

Buildings consume more than a third of the world's primary energy. In Brazil, buildings in the residential sector represent about 25% of electricity consumption. Much of this electricity is wasted due to the energy inefficiency of these buildings, whether related to the envelope and others. It is known that there is significant heat gain and / or loss in the coverings. The use of insulators alters this phenomenon but has an added value, so the best way to analyze the cost benefit of different construction types is through the cost of the life cycle. Thus, the objective is to analyze the cost benefit of different types of coverage by the Life Cycle Cost. The methodology adopted was a simulation with EnergyPlus calculating the consumption and use of TCPO to determine housing costs and different types of coverage. With the results it was noticed that the model with the lowest consumption did not have the lowest life cycle cost, however this relationship is not linear and the initial cost had more impact. The importance of the life cycle cost as a parameter for the cost benefit was noted, including the initial costs invested and the cost of electricity.
