In this study, the incorporation of different levels of asbestos-cement waste (ACW) was evaluated (24%, 49%, 74%, and 86% by weight, corresponding to 1.65%, 2.28%, 2.91%, and 3.54% SO3 content, respectively) as a replacement for the limestone and clay mixture in Portland clinker meal, and its effects on the clinkering process at different temperatures (1300°C and 1350°C, 1400°C and 1450°C) were examined. The phases formed in the produced clinkers were identified using X-ray diffraction (XRD), and the clinkers were then ground to produce cement. Subsequently, hydration analysis and mechanical performance tests were conducted on the cement pastes. Thus, it was observed that ACW can act as a mineralizer at a lower temperature (1350°C) of clinkerization, possibly providing an increase in the alite content (C3S) in the clinkers, due to the presence of SO3 and providing a greater amount of phases hydrated and greater mechanical strength at early ages.
