Abstract

Soil mixtures with two residues (lime sludge and agricultural gypsum) were developed, aiming to use them in impermeable layers of landfills. The mixtures were formulated by varying the addition content and compaction energy. They are: 0RNOR, 10LC-NOR, 10GA-NOR, 0R-MOD, 10LC-MOD and 10GA-MOD (10LC: 10% addition of lime slurry; 10GA: 10% addition of agricultural gypsum). Variable load permeability tests were carried out in order to determine the “k” coefficient and verify them to the required standards. Both the energy and the addition of the residue were able to reduce permeabilities, however, they were not enough to reach values lower than E-07 cm/s.
