CARBONATAÇÃO DE ARGAMASSAS MISTAS PRODUZIDAS COM REJEITO DE MINÉRIO DE FERRO
Keywords:
Carbonation, iron ore tailings, mortarsAbstract
The state of Minas Gerais is the second largest iron ore producer in Brazil and in 2019, it was responsible for 39% of the country’s iron ore production. This work aimed to evaluate carbonation and CO2 capture potential in mixed coating mortars, in 1:2:9 and 1:1:6 mixes, produced with iron ore tailings (IOT), calcined at 500 degrees and in natura, in replacement of cement CP IV, at levels of 0%, 10% and 20%. For this, mechanical and natural carbonation tests were carried out. The results indicate the feasibility of incorporating IOT into mortars without harming their durability.
