Abstract

Rice husk ash (RHA), an agro-industrial waste, has been studied as an alternative to replace Portland cement because it has pozzolanic property. In this sense, the chemical, physical and microstructural characterization of a RHA in the south of Brazil was carried out, in order to know the properties of the RHA generated in fluidized bed. The analyzes revealed that the RHA generated through the fluidized bed reactor is a pozzolan, as it contains 94.40% of SiO2. Therefore, it presents the potential to replace Portland cement, an alternative to the construction industry that seeks new materials aiming at preserving nature.
