Abstract

This study aims to verify how the addition of construction byproducts affects the dispersion of cement particles. The cement used was CPIIF40 and the by-products were: fly ash and silica. Zeta potential measurements of the materials used in the study were performed to analyze the interaction between the particles based on the nature and modulus of the charges. Also, the sedimentation velocity of the particles was measured, in order to link the zeta potential to the dispersion of the system. The results show that increasing the charge between the particles ensures greater dispersion and, consequently, lower sedimentation velocities.
