Brazil is one of the largest exporters of ore in the world, it is necessary to rethink the ways of using the tailings generated by this activity so that the environmental impacts are minimized. In this line, this study proposed to analyze the stabilization of compressed earth blocks (CEB) with lime and with iron ore tailings (IOT). The IOT was characterized by granulometry, x-ray diffractometry and x-ray fluorescence chemical analysis. The soil was also analyzed by means of a liquid limit determination and plasticity limit. For the study, stabilized blocks were produced with 10% lime and replaced with 0%, 10%, 20% and 30% of soil by IOT. After the 28-day curing period, the CEBs were subjected to compressive strength and absorption tests. After the tests, it was possible to conclude that the use of IOT in the CEBs contributed to the reduction of the water absorption values and the increase in the compressive strength, in comparison with the CEBs without IOT.
