Abstract

The Civil Construction industry has evolved and modernized its construction systems in several aspects. Selfleveling mortars have high performance, excellent flowability, speed of execution and consequently increased
productivity. However, they are still little used because of the absence of norms in force in the country.
Pathological manifestations such as lack of adherence, exudation, segregation, retraction and fissures have
been observed in some cases. In this sense, in order to combat these effects, this article will present the
rheological evaluation of this mortar, its properties in the fresh state and its mechanical behavior in the
hardened state when polypropylene fibers are added. The experimental program consists in the determination
of the reference mortar (without fibers) and polypropylene fibers in different theoretical contents, from the
rheological test, the consistency (Fall flow cone) and the flow time (Funil-V) recommended by European
Standard EFNARC (2002). Characterization and control of the mortar in the fresh state will occur through a
flow retention test. The expected results seek to evaluate the effectiveness of polypropylene fibers in reducing
the effects of retraction and cracking.
