Abstract

The study evaluated the mechanical and hydrological performance of pervious concrete with brick aggregates. In order to have better control of the composition, ceramic blocks were crushed and a uniform particle size distribution with a maximum diameter of 12.5 mm was composed. The crushing and beneficiation procedure was analyzed. The results obtained were compared with the reference mixture, composed only of natural aggregates. High abrasion and detachment of recycled aggregates were evidenced. This was associated with a reduction of porosity values, around 50% lower than the estimated, and with the low hydrological performance. However, the mechanical results obtained show the potential of using brick aggregates for this purpose.
