Abstract

The objective of this work is to verify the potential use of the residue generated by the paper industry during the extraction of conventional kaolin, flint kaolin (FC), as SCMs. For this, the residue was submitted to different thermal and physical treatments in order to increase its reactivity. The influence of these treatments was indirectly verified by physical (Granulometry and surface area B.E.T) and mineralogical (XRD) characterization tests. Isothermal calorimetry and compressive strength tests were performed at 7 and 28 days. From the results obtained, it was noted that the CF has potential for use as SCM.
