APPLICATION OF THE INDICATORS OF NBR ISO 37120 - SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IN COMMUNITIES FOR THE CITY OF CUIABA-MT

Sustainable development indicators are essential tools for urban planning and management. Among the problems faced by municipal managers, the disposal of solid waste is relevant, as this factor directly impacts the quality of life of the population. Therefore, this work aims to apply the solid waste section of NBR ISO 37120 - Sustainable Development in Communities for the municipality of Cuiabá - Mato Grosso and, in addition, make the comparison with the municipality of León, in Méximo. The methodological procedures consist in the application of the data obtained through technical visits, sending letters and consultations to the responsible agencies, in equations presented by the solid waste section of the standard for the calculation of the indicators. The results showed that it disposes of 100% of its waste in landfills and does not dispose of waste in dumps, incineration plants and other means, while Leon disposes of 97.5% of its waste in landfills and 2.5% in other means. Furthermore, it was found that both municipalities do not have data on hazardous waste disposal and recycling. Thus, the need for data consolidation by the municipal management is emphasized and consequent application of the norm indicators for the municipality
