Abstract

Recycling Construction Waste (RCW) is an alternative to minimize environmental impact, since it promotes the conservation of non-renewable raw materials and the volume of waste disposed in landfills and irregular areas is minimized. This work objectified to characterize physically and mechanically mixtures of selfcompacting soil-cement with the incorporation of construction residue, following the minimum performance criteria established in the Brazilian standards. The following methodological steps were followed: (a) characterization of the materials used in the mixtures (soil an RCW); (b) preliminary development of three dosages with 0%, 50% e 100% in order to identify the ideal percentage of incorporation of RCW in mixtures; and (c) conduction of physical characterization tests in the fresh state (slump flow) and hardened (water absorption and compressive strength). The slump flow of the mixtures varied from 430 to 765mm, while the water absorption was less than 20% in the blend with 100% incorporation of RCW. It has been found that ideal content of RCW incorporation is in the range of 50% to 100%. It was concluded that the incorporation of RCW self-compacting soil-cement in mixtures has potential for the production of vertical panels. It is suggested to complement the study, since there is still a need to test other substitution percentages.
