Construction sector accounts for approximately 38% of the world's CO₂ emissions, and the manufacture of Portland cement is the main factor generating this impact. One alternative to minimize emissions from the construction sector is to use pozzolanic materials as a partial replacement for cement. Rice husk ash, a waste product from the agricultural industry, is rich in amorphous silica and can be used as a pozzolanic material. This study evaluated the mechanical and physical properties of conventional concrete produced with 10% and 20% substitution of cement by rice husk ash, comparing them with reference concrete, whose binder was only cement. The samples' consistency, modulus of elasticity, compressive strength, and tensile strength were studied. The results showed that introducing ash reduced the workability of the fresh concrete, did not alter the stiffness of the samples, and led to good mechanical performance after 90 days of curing.
