The search for better working conditions and the life quality at workplaces brings, in a first plane, direct benefits to the worker health and, secondarily, a change in their income and productivity. Alongside this, the energy performance optimization of industrial buildings has rarely been the focus of research, due to the high energy consumption of industrial production processes. In this work, an evaluation of the thermal performance through numerical simulation of industrial sheds, equipped with an internal high-intensity heat source, to verify internal hygrothermal comfort conditions, is performed. The influence of some configurations of closure systems is considered for the city of Belo Horizonte considering the effects of natural ventilation as a function of the position of the air intake openings and the presence of the ridge vent. The final results show that the selection of materials with lower values of absorptance applied to the metallic closure of the building decreases the internal temperature by up to 1.8°C compared to other materials, and the good conditioning of the natural ventilation was indispensable, since with the presence of the ridge vent, a reduction of up to 11.9°C of the internal temperature of the shed is obtained. Compare the results found with the limits of the IBUTG index predicted by the NR-15. This evaluation of the occupational exposure to heat is extended to cities with different climatic scenarios of Belo Horizonte – MG these being, respectively, Curitiba – PR and Manaus – AM. For both cities, strictly on the hottest summer day, a high IBUTG index was obtained, even with the interpolation of the best configuration for the shed, being necessary, in short, the implementation of control measures for the exercise of labor activities in this industrial environment.
