Among the strategies that contribute to the thermal comfort and reduction of energy consumption of buildings is the use of passive acclimatization techniques, such as vegetated roof systems. In this sense, this study aimed to assess the thermal performance of an extensive vegetated roof system, by means of tests carried with experimental modules, during the summer, in the city of Curitiba (Parana). For the evaluation, two experimental modules were applied: a vegetated roof module, and a roof with a non-ventilated air-layer module, which corresponded to the control module. The measured parameters are the external and internal temperature of the modules, as well as the substrate moisture of the vegetated layer. Based on the results of this research, it was verified a superior performance of the vegetated roof module, compared to the control module, demonstrating effects of thermal stability, thermal delay and thermal damping.
