Abstract

ABSTRACTIn order to contribute to the universalization of sanitation services in Brazil, the aim of this work is to discuss the possibility of increasing the performance of sanitary infrastructure when conceived from water sustainability interventions in hydraulic building systems. In this sense, the research method consisted of the development of a case study that focused on the planning of sanitary infrastructure for  an urban area of a Brazilian municipality. The results of the research indicated that by associating measures of water sustainability in the buildings to the planning of the sanitary infrastructure, its performance indicators were improved. However, some negative synergies may occur, which may reduce the performance of sanitary infrastructure.
