Non-compliances in the hydraulic and sanitary building systems of an educational institution

ABSTRACT: The bureaucratic aspects involved in hiring a building maintenance team in public institutions contribute significantly to the high number of unconformities in these buildings. In order to analyze what can be found, this study aimed to investigate and identify occurrences of unconformities in the hydraulic and sanitary building system (HSBS) of a public educational institution. The survey was conducted in the restroom facilities of the blocks at the Federal Institute of Science, Technology, and Education of Goiás - Campus Aparecida de Goiânia. Upon detecting unconformities in the HSBS, documentation, quantification, and analysis of the operational conditions of the sanitary devices were carried out. Over 75% of the unconformities were related to the sanitary sewer system, while the remaining portion pertained to the cold-water plumbing system. The most frequent unconformities identified were leaks in toilet bowls and improperly installed traps. Based on the results, the need for a technical team with knowledge in the operation of hydraulic and sanitary building systems to identify and repair these unconformities became evident.
