Abstract

This work evaluates the influence of milling in a planetary ball mill at different times, on the physical, chemical and mineralological properties of a residue from the Fluidized Catalytic Cracking (FCC) process. The pastes were prepared, replacing 15% of the cement mass with the residue. The water/solids ratio was 0.5. The hydration process was evaluated by isothermal calorimetry during the first three days of hydration. Paste characterization was also evaluated by TG/DTG. The results showed that the milling of the residue improves its reactivity in cementitious pastes, favoring not only pozzolanic activity, but also nucleating action.
