Abstract

The natural sand that is applied in concretes is becoming increasingly scarce, due to the depletion of the deposits, as well as the restrictions imposed by the environmental inspection body for the extraction. Once is the use of crushing sand, which reduces the damage generated in the environment, and to having a reduced price. The research has the goal of evaluating the natural sand by the crushing sand in the manufacture of concrete pieces for interlocking pavement. Firstly, a reference proportion (0%) was defined, growing proportions were then used, substituting the natural sand by the crushing sand, by 25% and 50%. After the concreting of the pieces, the use of compression strength, water absorption, visual analysis and dimensional evaluation were evaluated. After the tests of resistance to compression, at 28 days, the proportions of 25% and 50% obtained an increase of 23.17% and 26.86%, respectively, compared to the reference proportion. Water absorption test at 28 days, the proportions 0% and 50% exceeded the limit established by 6% standard. In general, some devices of defects of homogeneity and presence of burrs.
