Abstract

The vast majority of human activities cause numerous impacts on the environment. Undoubtedly, one of the most power environmentally impactful economic sectors is the Civil Construction, as it generates an exorbitant amount of waste. Alternative sustainable practices are sought, as a means of reducing harmful interference to the environment. Among these alternatives, it is worth highlighting the recycling of construction waste for use within the sector itself. The present study had the objective of producing concrete with the use of recycled aggregates for structural purposes. Recycled aggregates of concrete residues from crushed specimens were used. Concretes were produced with recycled aggregates with 30% (CRC30) and 50% (CRC50) substitution contents, besides the reference concrete (REFER), with only natural aggregates. It was aimed to evaluate the influence of the use of the recycled aggregate on the mechanical properties of the hardened concrete. Axial compression and indirect tensile tests were carried after 28 days of cure. The tests results showed the feasibility of the use of good recycled aggregates, as these residues, in the production of concretes with structural mechanical performance.
