Abstract

There is a constant increase of concern about environmental issues, Brazil being one of the world's largest producers and exporters of ornamental stones, however, the treatment process of these materials generates a large amount of waste that in most cases does not have an adequate destination. In order to solve this problem, several researches are being developed to reuse these wastes, specifically in civil construction and to use them in substitution or addition of conventional materials in the concrete. The present work seeks to develop a review of the studies carried out on the use of marble and granite in concrete and identifying the knowledge gaps. Such a review will consist of the following steps: quantification of the waste in Brazil and in the world, processing of the marble and granite residue to be incorporated in the concrete, bibliometric analysis in the Scopus, statistical study, and Web of Science and identify the gaps in relation to the mechanical properties with the incorporation of the residue of marble and granite. The literature review is that the composite of marble and granite can be replaced by a cement and not aggregated as a building material with the power to generate identification errors. and the aggressive medium.
