Abstract

Civil construction is an activity that has a considerable impact on the environment through uncontrolled consumption of raw materials. With the intention of reversing this situation, there are currently several alternatives to be used to solve the large waste production. In addition to reducing the volume of discarded materials, the reuse of waste from other productive sectors brings a new perspective on what construction represents. The objective of this work is to present, through a bibliographical review, constructions that use cardboard tubes as a constructive element, material from recycled paper and that would probably become a little used waste, are feasible in several situations, in technical, economic and sustainability terms environmental. The work carried out by the architect Shigeru Ban and researches developed in Brazil for more than fifteen years was taken as base. Through the analysis, it was concluded that the results obtained are pertinent not only to construction professionals, but also to other areas, because it is exposed how indicated is to apply the use of the paper derivative in the construction, mainly because there are obvious traces of sustainability, practicality and economy, coupled with satisfactory mechanical resistance and durability for certain types of constructions.
