Abstract

Currently in Brazil, the amount of Construction and Demolition Waste (RCD) has increased significantly with the expansion of civil construction, which has resulted in numerous environmental impacts due to the incorrect destination of this waste. In view of this problem, the article aims to study the recycling of this RCD, from works in the metropolitan region of Belém-PA, in composites of polyester isophthalic matrix with curing agents (cobalt accelerator 1.5 % and MEK-P initiator 1 %) along with residue in the proportions of 0, 10 and 20 % in the granulometry of 100 mesh. The composite manufacturing process was by hand lay up method in metallic mold. Physical characterization tests (Apparent Specific Mass - MEA, Water Absorption - AA, Apparent Porosity - PA), as well as flammability tests and mechanical strength tests (traction) were performed. The results showed a reduction of approximately 47 % in flame propagation in the proportion of 20 % RCD, for the results of tensile strength the composites acted like filling load, presenting values similar to full matrix, besides good economic and environmental impacts.
