Abstract

Energy consumption in the world context is constantly growing, so it is necessary to assess its impact on the environment in the medium and long term. In architecture, much is discussed about the harmful effects of tall buildings and their high energy consumption, however, the number of tall buildings continues to increase, which demonstrates that there is no way to avoid them, since they are the best option to supply high demands for housing with little available urban land. The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate the impact of certifications in the form of sustainable guidelines for tall building design. The sustainable guidelines were drawn up based on a comparative analysis of the requirements of the main certifications for sustainability and energy efficiency: LEED and BREEAM. At the end, the guidelines will be applied to the design of a tall commercial building in order to demonstrate the design possibilities in a practical way. This work is the result of a Scientific Initiation research applied to the project developed in the Final Graduation Work.
