Abstract

To obtain a good sound insulation and, consequently, acoustic comfort for a building of cultural use, it is essential to analyze the materials used in a project and even the design strategies to be adopted. Thus, this article aims to present the study of a Cultural Arts Center, aiming at the parameters that should be analyzed when designing an architectural project based on acoustic comfort strategies and reverberation time calculations. For this, we started by investigating the materials used internally in the spaces, the elements of the floor, ceiling, upholstered doors and armchairs were considered, in addition to the planes allocated under the walls. Design strategies generated from studies of comfort and reduction of sound noise levels through absorption were studied. The findings made it possible to reach the ideal levels between 1.5 and 0.75 seconds in reverberation time at the frequencies 125 Hz, 250 Hz, 500 Hz, 1000 Hz, 2000 Hz, and 4000 Hz. Isolation strategies were applied internally with double walls in the auditorium, use of an antechamber and in the distribution of the layout, keeping the less noisy environments around the auditorium, such as the restrooms, equipment rooms and horizontal circulation.  Moreover, architectural strategies and definitions of materials were adopted, which ratify the importance of these solutions in the project phase to achieve the quality of comfort for users.
