Abstract

The urban sound mapping is based on measurements of sound pressure levels in the field and computational simulations, and can be used for decision making at different scales (from small areas to whole cities). This resource represents a valuable tool for analyzing the critical points of cities since the high levels of sound pressure can cause physiological and, mainly, psychological issues in their inhabitants, interfering negatively in the quality of life of the population. This study aims, through the ProKnow-C methodology, to select a bibliometric portfolio on urban sound mapping perfomed by SoundPLAN and Cadna-A. These softwares are resources that allow the visualization of sound pressure levels in the map of the region to be analyzed and the identification of situations with excessive levels. From the portfolio elaboration, articles were analyzed focusing on the answer to the following questions: "What data are used to obtain the acoustic map?", "How are the software used to obtain the maps used?" And " What information is used from the sound mapping? ". Six articles were selected to compose the bibliographic portfolio and, from this, the methodologies used in each of them were analyzed. The results showed that the authors used information on the main sources of noise, such as traffic, urban morphology and microclimatic context (such as humidity, temperature and wind) to obtain the maps. The most commonly software used was Cadna-A with the function of simulating and evaluating the propagation of sound energy, and calculating and presenting urban sound pressure levels in the form of a map. From the preparation of the maps, information such as conflict areas (where values exceed normative instructions), the number of people affected and the action plans for areas studied could be extracted. The relevance of this research is based on reporting the procedures used in the studies carried out so far, so that, in the future, its results may contribute to the selection of methods for the realization of urban sound maps using simulation software.
