ANÁLISE BIOCLIMÁTICA COMO FERRAMENTA NA DEFINIÇÃO DE DIRETRIZES ESPACIAIS NO CAMPUS DA UFRN EM SANTA CRUZ

Abstract

The consolidation of the internalization politic from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), through the past decade, has resulted in the physical expansion of its campuses to meet the demands arising from academic and administrative activities, necessitating a physical-territorial ordering. Through such perspective, the central administration designated commissions to update and elaborate the campuses master plans. This paper presents the activities developed by the commission that performed the process of elaboration of the work plan for the Santa Cruz campus, at Santa Cruz/RN. The activities started considering fundamental aspects, the institution mission, its goals and administrative and physical organization, resulting in the definition of the plan´s framework and goals. The historical aspects, the academical indicators and the planned expansion projects were also considered. Throughout the process of the master plan elaboration, the university community has participated through community reading workshops and hearings, and also through the participation of a local commission designated to monitor and collaborate with the activities. The bioclimatic analysis performed to such campus was developed based on theoretical concepts, guidelines and references from consolidated methods also applied to other UFRN campus. Considering the qualitative analysis of the campus’ form bioclimatic attributes and its typology, strategies for environmental impacts and energy consumption reduction were developed, also defining guidelines for the territorial organization, deciding for a master plan based on the form, mapping the types of buildings, besides defining techniques of water supply, rainwater harvesting, rainwater management, sewage networks, solid waste collection, among other guidelines.
