Climate change can increasingly be associated with large urban centers, which suffer their effects, as well as buildings and man himself. The identification of critical zones and mitigating interventions of these effects could improve the conditions of environmental comfort. In this context, this paper presents an analysis of the relationship between urban planning and microclimate in Ipatinga, a medium city located in the state of Minas Gerais. 32 points were selected within the urban perimeter of that city, with different occupations, in order to compare the relationship between the width of the roads and the height of the buildings. Results indicated that the use and occupation of the soil interfere in the climatic variables and, consequently, in the thermal comfort of the cities.
