There has been a significant increase in air temperature in cities around the world in recent years. This phenomenon draws the attention of governmental associations, which seek, along with the scientific scope, to understand its causes and seek measures to minimize the negative impacts arising from this scenario. It is known that the number of people migrating from rural areas to urban centers has increased significantly in recent years, bringing the need for expansion and implementation of new infrastructures, with the suppression of natural soil for the insertion of artificial structures. This process of intense urbanization causes localized heating, known scientifically as the effect of the urban heat island, causing local temperature increase and the relative humidity of the air, creating an unpleasant and unhealthy environment for the people who live there. Numerous international studies confirm the effect of vegetation on the energy balance of urban areas, helping to reduce temperature and increase air humidity. The present study sought to analyze and prove, through a field study, the effect of a green infrastructure present in the urban centrality of the city of Erechim, located in the north of Rio Grande do Sul, in the reduction of temperature and in the increase of humidity of the air in its urbanized environment. In order to prove this affection, the research consists of analyzing and identifying sites near the green infrastructure, which have characteristics conducive to the formation of heat islands, due to the materials and the morphological conditions, thus defining collecting points referring to the micrometeorological conditions in the surroundings of the mass green and indoors, in order to compare the results collected, and to verify the influence of vegetation on the data of temperature and humidity of the air.
