Abstract

In the last decades, a significant increase of researches that investigate the influence of the vegetation in urban climate has been verified. Given the lack of a bibliographic summary on the subject, this paper aims to present a panoramic view of the scientific production on vegetation and urban climate in recent years, identifying the main approaches, methodologies and variables used, besides highlighting the gaps in the knowledge produced. The temporal reference cut for the systematization of the bibliographical survey was between the years 2006 and 2018, focusing mainly on the relationship between vegetation and urban climate publications in books, chapters of books, theses, essays, papers in national and international conferences and periodicals. It was observed, therefore, that the scientific knowledge produced in Brazil and in several countries, showed a predominance approach of the subject using a descriptive methodology, mainly, in investigations through case studies. In addition, one can perceive the interest of research groups in several areas of knowledge that seek to understand the interrelation between vegetation and urban climate at different scales. Given the interdisciplinary nature of this theme, and considering the knowledge gaps identified, the perspective of biology was shown to deepen the theme, seeking to discuss the behavior of vegetation in the urban climate in the face of the stress conditions that can be presented in the environment.
