Abstract

Residential satisfaction has been the focus of growing interest in research due to the importance of assessing the needs and expectations of individuals in their built environment. Based on the user's perception, this article aims to understand the main relationships between the Residential Satisfaction group and variables linked to housing performance. Through the Survey method, the research applied an online questionnaire, which obtained a sample of 279 individuals. Despite the purpose of the study to cover respondents from the entire national territory, the descriptive analysis of the sample indicated that respondents belong to the South, Southeast and Midwest regions of the country, all living in their own and/or financed homes. Multivariate analyzes (correlation and path diagram) were developed to understand the interrelationships of variables and groups. The results showed that the Aesthetics (ES), Privacy and Room Distribution (PD) and Housing Size (TH) constructs significantly influence Household Satisfaction (SR). On the other hand, Perceived Comfort (PC) and Size of External Area (EA) showed a less significant correlation with Satisfaction with Residence (SR). This research helps to highlight the main factors to be analyzed when designing a house in a satisfactory way, with the user as the main focus.
