Brazil has an alarming housing deficit despite the elaboration of policies related to housing of the low income population, which leads to the necessity to produce social housing in large scale. In this housing, the high energy consumption is observed to supply the user's thermal comfort needs, because strategies in this sense were not thought during the elaboration of the buildings architecture project. Moreover, there are several certifications that have the purpose to classify the level of sustainability of buildings and, as it is known, one of the topics addressed in those is thermal comfort. Further, this work aim to identify the applicability of sustainability principles focused on the thermal comfort of the user present in the certifications LEED BD+C v.4 and Casa Azul in architectural projects of single-family social housing. For this, the requirements that refer to the thermal comfort of the user in these certifications were identified and, from them, a social housing architecture project was elaborated that allowed the application of these concepts. In summation, there is the possibility of reaching the user's thermal comfort requirements brought by the Casa Azul and by the LEED BD+C v.4 adopting project strategies with this focus in the production of social housing.
