Abstract

Urban climate maps are tools to support decision-making for urban planning. In them, city areas can be grouped into urban climatic classes that represent the impact of the urban structure on the hygrometric comfort of the population. Due to the constant transformations of the urban space, the climatic classes must be regularly reviewed and calibrated. In this work, the calibration method for a climatic class of the urban climate map of the city of João Pessoa - Paraíba is described. The study area is represented by a square in the centre of the city, using thermal sensation information from passers-by, physical-spatial characteristics and climate data. The thermo-hygrometric behaviour is analysed based on computational simulations developed in the micrometeorological model ENVI-met® version 4.4.2, seeking to understand the dynamics of these climatic elements in a spatial and temporal way. With this data, Rayman ® software version 1.2 is used sequentially to estimate the equivalent physiological temperature index - PET, widely used in thermal sensation studies. With the PET values obtained, a thermal sensation classification was applied to the hothumid climate regions. The results obtained demonstrate that the studied area presents a very hot thermal sensation consistent with that found in the climatic map. This study presents as an alternative to future researches that seek the calibration of climatic classes in urban climate maps.
