Abstract

The green public spaces allow appropriation when they offer more thermal comfort for the citizens. However, the seasonality of urban climate modifies the level of thermal comfort. The microclimate scale is ignored in urban projects, projects of a park or square design. In this sense, this research has as its mission to characterize the microclimate of the Station Square, located in the city of Juiz de Fora, Minas Gerais, for summer (February) and winter (July). The method presents 04 steps: i) data collection, ii) modeling iii) simulation and iv) data extraction. The computer simulation analyzes the parameters of thermal comfort by the software ENVI-met V4.3.2. More specifically, it presents data by means of maps that represent the thermal comfort of the Square in the simulated days at specific times - 9 am, 3 pm and 9 pm with respect to the climatic parameters of air temperature (° C), wind speed (m / s) and relative air humidity (%) added to the PMV - Predicted Mean Vote index. The results show with respect to the PMV comfort index indicates that the achieved thermal sensations are disproportionate to the seasonality: "Very hot" to "Slightly warm" for summer and " Slightly warm" to "Cool" for winter. These results emphasize the relevance of the microclimatic approach in urban and landscape design, evidencing the use of computational simulation as a strategic step in this process. To conclude, it is confirmed that “Praça da Estação” has two climatically very different periods and that seasonality must be an indispensable factor for the characterization of the urban scenario.
