Green roofs are vernacular cover solutions that continue to be used due to their thermal properties and other benefits, both for the building and for the local microclimate. Its installation promotes evaporative cooling and thermal inertia for the internal environment. In this way, the objective of this paper is to analyse the thermal performance of the green roof system, compared to the roofing with ceramic tile, in the semi-arid climate of the city of Arapiraca-AL. The internal and external surface temperatures of the two coverage systems were monitored with thermographic photographs, in test cells installed in experimental beds at the Federal University of Alagoas / Campus Arapiraca. The thermal damping was adopted as a parameter of comparison. The results showed a difference in the external surface temperature that reached 10.2 ° C between the green roof (less heated) and the ceramic tile (more heated), and green roofs internal surface temperatures less in even 3,0ºC. It is concluded that the data obtained showed a better performance of the green roofs than the covering with ceramic tile in the studied context.
