There are several methods for evaluating heat flows in a building, with different complexities and uncertainties. Even the intervening basic physical properties such as the Thermal Transmittance of a wall (U) can be established by different procedures, including estimates by direct calculation, computational simulation analyzes and measurement records. Each method with an indicated application. But what is the variation between these results and how to reduce the related errors is not an evident information, especially considering that in nature the flows are not stationary as establish the simplest models of evaluation of this greatness. This work presents different standard methods of evaluation of this magnitude (Transmittance - U), discusses different methods of calculating experimental transmittance and presents measured reference data. There is a good correlation between the results obtained, however, that there are details in the procedures that can cause great differences, especially for records in tropical regions. Details which should be included in the standard procedures. Whereas these results may totally change the thermal and energetic performance evaluations of the buildings and the studies that use computational thermal simulation of these areas, these analyzes are considered of high comprehensiveness and relevance.
