There is a concern to develop more sustainable constructions, and also provide more comfort to users, and that has been the objective of many researches in last years. This paper has the objective of evaluating factors that influence thermal performance of a multifamily building that is located in the Brazilian Bioclimatic Zone 2, and it is related to the choice of a fiber cement roof commonly used as cover material in the region. The results have demonstrated that solar absorptivity had a significant influence on the internal temperature of the building. This variable obtained the value 0.3 as the most adequate for the summer solstice, but with low comfort temperatures for the winter, even if approved when analyzed by the recommendations of NBR 15575 (ABNT, 2013). The most suitable thermal transmittance for the two critical stations of the year was in order of 1.34 W/(m².K). It was verified that the coverage requires ventilation control, which should include 1 Ren/h in winter and 15 Ren/h in summer. The compositions with the best thermal performance during the summer were those that had low solar absorber values and high air renewals. These compositions also showed good results in winter, but with the reduction of ventilation and the presence of thermal insulation in the system.
