Abstract

The development of norms that regulate the quality of buildings has evolved in the last decades, first with the transition to a functional base related to the performance and more recently with the introduction of new objectives including those related to sustainability and climatic issues. The level of information of the designers about such regulations is essential to assist in their preparation to meet these performance requirements, since this preparation involves their various processes requiring a different attitude towards the labor market. This research investigated the level of information of the architects / designers and their professional practices in their offices, in front of the project process paradigms and the environmental performance requirements. For that, an exploratory study was developed with the application of a questionnaire directed after a statistical analysis for the validation of the answers obtained. The research with the architect’s professionals revealed that "practical knowledge", "theoretical knowledge", "adoption of new technologies" and "adoption of new methods" were the four main factors that affect the development of the project to meet environmental performance in the current Brazilian scenario. Demonstrating that professionals need to update forward the new demands of the market.
