Abstract

Brazilian construction today is experiencing a period of major changes, due to the implementation of the Performance Standard NBR 15.575. Performance requirements have emerged as another challenge in the management of the building design process. Concerns about the environmental performance conditions of buildings generate a large number of requirements in the form of information, and the practice of designing with a focus on the performance of buildings must take into account all the requirements in order to improve the final quality of the product. In order for the environmental performance of the building to be achieved, it is necessary that the requirements for such an objective be identified and worked in the design phase of the architectural project, dimensioned and specified the building elements correctly. The present research had the objective of demonstrating the possibility of automating the prediction of thermal performance by means of a structure created by the integration of the BIM methodology with Visual programming, simulating the performance of the vertical seals according to the criteria and parameters required by NBR 15.575. The results demonstrate that the BIM-VPL structure created for vertical fence evaluation is able to predict and create different conceptual design solutions in a short time during the design development stages.
