MAPA DO RUÍDO DE TRÁFEGO DO BAIRRO DE MANAÍRA, EM JOÃO PESSOA/PB

Abstract

Noise pollution is currently considered one of the biggest urban problems in large cities, as it affects the quality of life of populations and can cause adverse effects on human health. In João Pessoa, capital of Paraíba, the accelerated process of urbanization in the last decades tends to intensify this problem, since it contributes to the growth of the number of vehicles in the region - the main aggravating factor of noise pollution. In this context, noise maps are important tools for environmental acoustic analysis, which allow a graphical visualization of sound pressure levels and critical points in an area. These maps can be used for various purposes, diagnosing the sound quality of spaces and assisting in the creation of public policies for urban planning. Thus, the present article has the main objective of mapping the traffic noise in Manaíra neighborhood, one of the most vertical in the city of João Pessoa / PB, in order to characterize and quantify its acoustic scenario. For that, an extensive methodology was applied, permeated by bibliographic research, survey of morphological data of the area, metering of sound pressure levels and local traffic flow, elaboration of the noise map in the SoundPlan software and analysis of the results. The study showed that the situation of urban noise in Manaíra is a cause for concern, considering that all measuring points in the neighborhood had high sound levels in both morning and afternoon periods, much higher than those recommended by the norm NBR 10151. It is clear, therefore, that the noise pollution scenario in the neighborhood is alarming and can potentially cause harm to the population, and noise mapping is a determining tool for such a diagnosis.
