PERSPECTIVAS EM EFICIÊNCIA ENERGÉTICA PARA A PRESERVAÇÃO DO PATRIMÔNIO MODERNO

Historical buildings need preservation and appropriateness to current use. Interventions are necessary to keep them in good condition and adapted to the present, in terms of safety, accessibility, infrastructure, comfort and energy efficiency. Each of these aspects requires intense and specific studies, orientated in attendance of needs, but without harming the conservation guidelines of the patrimony. As the first Modern social housing in Brazil, the Villa Operária da Gamboa in Rio de Janeiro, designed by Gregori Warchavchik and Lúcio Costa, listed by municipal government, and nowadays it is totally uncharacterized by successive adaptations made by residents, without proper technical assistance. The present work shows two propositions of design interventions in the Vila that combines the need to preserve a Modern object with the current use, trying to improve its energy performance. The proposals were developed through information obtained by residents, based on guidelines of contextual continuity of patrimony and also with the adoption of the Prescritive Method of RTQ-R to verify the classification level of energy efficiency of the building. This last stage was also applied to the original Vila design and its current configuration so that it was possible to compare the differences in energy performance before and after the intervention proposals. The results show that it is possible to combine, satisfactorily, the patrimony conservation guidelines with suitability for use and still maintain a good level of energy efficiency classification, which, in this specific case, was better than that established in the original design.
