Abstract

The envelope of office buildings is closely related to the use of natural light and one of the ways to analyze the interference of daylighting inside a building is through computer simulation. Therefore, the objective of this work was to evaluate the light performance of different architectural typologies of vertical office buildings constructed in Vitoria/ES. The methodology used involved the modeling of the internal environment of four representative buildings from different periods, simulated in eight orientations, without the presence of obstructed surroundings, in order to exclude the influence of this variable in this investigation. The aim is to evaluate the behavior of daylighting through the metrics of Useful Daylight Iluminances (UDI) and Daylight Autonomy (DA). For this computer simulation the Diva-for-Rhino plug-in was used. The results show that the representative model of the period from 2000 to 2016, simulated with a facade with 100% PAF, with low transmissivity glass, reached higher percentages of UDI in environments. However, the representative model from 1950 to 1979, with 40% PAF and high transmissivity glass, achieved the highest performance in relation to DA.
