Abstract

In the class of Luminic and Acoustic Comfort of the Architecture and Urbanism Course at the University of Itajaí Valley (UNIVALI), scale models are developed with zenithal openings in which the daylight is evaluated qualitatively in relation to the geometry of the admission systems. In spite of the coherence of the studied solutions and the contribution to the students' learning, it has increasingly been necessary also quantitative daylight evaluations in the studied environments, thus demonstrating the effectiveness of the applied systems in their proposed dimensions and orientations. Therefore, this work aims to evaluate quantitatively the daylight admission in scale models developed in the class of Luminic and Acoustic Comfort, comparing the physical models developed to computational simulations. From this objective were established the following methodological steps: (1) Selection of the scale models evaluated; (2) Measurements of the models and definition of the geometric parameters; (3) Computational modeling in the Rhinoceros3D and simulation in the DIVA-for-Rhino plug-in using the daylight metrics: DA (Daylight Autonomy), UDI (Useful Daylight Illuminances), FLD (Daylight Factor) and sDA (Spatial Daylight Autonomy ) of each model; (4) Analysis according to normative parameters of IES-LM-83-12 (LEED v4.); (5) Measurement of FLD in the scale models. As main results, the relationship between the percentage of zenith aperture and the amount of daylight allowed in the models, as well as the influence of the solar height and the depth of the admission systems, is highlighted. It was also observed a great quantitative variation in the daylight admission between the studied models, proving that the considerations of the geometry of the insolation proposed in the exercise could be complemented with measurements or computational simulations, as exemplified in this work, contributing with a greater understanding of the phenomena related to the daylight admission.
