One of the most efficient ways to reduce the consumption of electricity, in the building sector, is to take advantage of the natural source of free lighting called daylight, particularly in daytime spaces. However, the energy saving and visual comfort potential depends on how natural light enters through the opening and this is mainly determined by shading and solar control systems. In Argentina, most of the shading and solar control systems used have not been characterized in their luminous behavior. The incorrect implementation of complex shading devices may lead to problems with respect to visual comfort and increased energy consumption. Within this framework, the objective of this paper is to propose and test a comprehensive and integral methodology for daylight performance measurement of interior roller curtains under clear sky conditions. The methodological proposal involves improvements in the following aspects: (1) detailed optical properties characterization of all the elements involved in the scene; (2) comprehensive study, which adds to daylight glare and distribution studies the analysis color parameters -CCR, CRI, and intensity according to the wavelength-; (3) adaptation of the methodology to clear sky conditions.
